Daily Motivation – Jan 7
If you’re scared, ask yourself, what’s the worst that could happen. Make a list of the things that could go wrong. That’s often all you need to decide to take the plunge.
So often we get ourselves in a fluster about something that might happen somewhere in the distant future. I was a constant worrier. I think that would be my natural state now so I had to learn to let it go.
Making a list of all the things that could possibly go wrong, no matter how small or silly they seemed, was a great step forward in beating my fear paralysis.
Once you write the list, you often realise that if any of these things do go wrong, it isn’t really a big deal. And sometimes you can immediately see a way of avoiding one or more of those things eventuating anyway.
One of the greatest fears people have is the fear of public speaking. Seriously! But what can really go wrong? What are we so concerned about? We might be embarrassed. That’s probably about all that would happen. We’re not going to die from embarrassment. Nothing that big and dramatic will really happen.
Try writing the list. You will probably be surprised at what you find. And hopefully you’ll be able to knock down a few of the barriers that are stopping you from achieving your goals.
